Nutanix CVM SRE Toolkits
While doing a support call today, we had to diagnose some routing issue. I was bummed to not have a tcpdump at my disposal to just grab the network output on a specific interface… 😔
That’s when my SRE pulled out a nice one :
sudo /root/sretools/sreinstall.sh
This little nugget will add tcpdump and telnet to your CVM available commands.
The full command output bellow :

NOTE: This script should only be run by Nutanix SRE staff
or with guidance from Nutanix SRE staff.
This script will install tcpdump and telnet client
for support troubleshooting.

Installing telnet client.

telnet-1:0.17-76.el8.x86_64
Telnet client installed successfully.
Installing tcpdump.
Installed:
tcpdump-14:4.9.3-5.el8.x86_64
Tcpdump installed successfully.
Adding job to autoremove SRE tools in 24 hours.
Adding hourly notice that SRE tools are installed.
SRE tools autoremoval job and notice sucessfully installed.
SRE tools install complete.
NOTICE - System is running with SRE support tools installed - NOTICE
As stated in the output, the tools will be available on the CVM for 24h and autoremoved afterward
Of course, with great power comes great responsibility, so use it only when instructed by your SRE 😜
